New Mexico residents can apply for state benefits through the Health Care Authority and seek help comparing support options through the Aging and Disability Resource Center. Medicare counseling is a separate service. Keep benefit applications, care-planning conversations, and local housing or transit requests in separate records so follow-up reaches the right team.
Apply and Follow Up on State Benefits
New Mexico Health Care Authority Application Guide provides online, downloadable, and field-office application routes, plus telephone Medicaid applications. YesNM accounts offer case information and benefit-status tools. Choose the current instructions for the benefit you want, keep submission details, and respond to any request for an interview or documents. Contact the customer-service team about an existing case instead of starting another application without guidance.
Plan Long-Term Support
New Mexico Aging and Disability Resource Center offers options counseling about care facilities, meals, home health, Medicaid, Medicare, and transportation resources. Its appointment system distinguishes Medicare appointments from other options-counseling requests, including waiver registration. Prepare information about daily activities, support needs, and finances for the official appointment; do not send sensitive records to a general directory or public comment form.
Get Medicare Counseling
New Mexico SHIP Counseling Announcement explains that the ADRC connects people with State Health Insurance Assistance Program counselors. They provide free, unbiased help comparing coverage, reviewing prescription costs, and exploring help with Medicare expenses. This is counseling, not a guarantee that a particular plan or assistance program fits. Have your current coverage information and questions ready.
Before You Contact a Program
- Choose the benefit or counseling topic before booking or applying.
- List the help needed with daily activities and the assistance already available.
- Keep current benefit notices and questions together for the official appointment.
- Confirm the local service area and any separate application requirements.
Federal Benefits and Next Steps
Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.
