Santa Fe’s senior programs, housing authorities, and Santa Fe Ride have separate intake rules. The city’s rental directory can help identify a housing contact, but the city itself does not accept applications for every listed program. Ask which organization makes the decision.

Senior Services and Registration

Santa Fe Senior Services Guide offers meals, outreach, benefits counseling information, and other older-adult programs. Meal and transportation participants must register; the city lists age, spouse, and limited meal-specific exceptions. Ask which rule fits your situation. Outreach staff can discuss needs and referrals, while benefits counseling is arranged separately by appointment.

Find the Correct Housing Contact

Santa Fe Rental Housing Guide distinguishes affordable properties from housing-authority vouchers. Contact individual complexes about their eligibility and vacancies. The Civic and County housing authorities are separate from city government and handle their own waiting lists. Confirm their current residence requirements and application process directly rather than sending a rental application to the city’s general housing office.

Santa Fe Ride

Santa Fe Ride has ADA paratransit for eligible people unable to use regular bus routes and a separate senior service for residents age 60 or older within city limits. An application is required. Clarify which category applies and check the trip boundary, booking procedure, and current fare; the service is shared transportation.

Before You Contact a Program

  • Ask whether senior-service registration is required for your activity.
  • Identify the housing authority or property receiving the application.
  • Confirm the rider category and both addresses before booking transport.

Federal Benefits and Next Steps

Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.

For the federal process, read our Disability Application Guide and Document Preparation Checklist.
