City Resource Guides
On This Page
Nevada benefit applications and community-service referrals begin in different places. Access Nevada handles state benefit applications, while aging and disability programs can help identify support options. Southern Nevada and Washoe County also have separate housing and transportation systems. Use your residence and the help needed to choose the first contact.
Apply for State Benefits
Access Nevada Application Guide provides the official route to apply for food, health-coverage, and cash-assistance programs. The page also links to previous applications and benefit information. Its notice explains that users need a new Access Nevada account following the system change in February 2025. If an older login fails, follow the current registration guidance rather than repeatedly submitting applications.
Find an Aging or Disability Service
Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division connects older adults, people with disabilities, care partners, and families with programs and resources. Its inquiry form is a starting point when you do not know which team handles your need. Explain the assistance required and your location, then ask whether the next step is information, an assessment, or a separate application.
Explore Care and Support Options
Nevada Care Connection Resource Guide offers navigation resources for deaf and hard-of-hearing people, dementia care, and Medicare assistance. It also identifies categories such as in-home services and financial assistance. Use these guides to prepare questions about the support you need; inclusion in a resource directory does not establish that you qualify or that services are immediately available.
Before You Contact a Program
- Write down the county and city where services are needed.
- Separate a new benefit application from an account update or renewal.
- Describe daily support needs and any communication or accessibility requirements.
- Ask which documents and follow-up steps belong to each program.
Federal Benefits and Next Steps
Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.
For the federal process, read our Disability Application Guide and Document Preparation Checklist.

Workers’ Compensation, Medicare and Veterans Benefits in Nevada
Each program has its own application and decision process. These starting points help you find the agency or counseling program for Nevada.
Workers’ Compensation
The C-4, Employee’s Claim for Compensation/Report of Initial Treatment, is supplied by the medical provider. Both the employee and medical professional complete their portions. Ask whether the completed form was sent to the correct claims administrator and keep the resulting claim information.
