Great Falls, Montana: Disability Resources
On This Page
Great Falls residents can use Cascade County Aging Services for older-adult support, the local housing authority for rental programs, and Great Falls Transit for paratransit certification. These programs serve different purposes, so an application to one does not cover the others.
Cascade County Aging Services
Cascade County Aging Services covers Cascade County with a primary focus on residents age 60 and older. Its services include information and referral, nutrition, Medicare counseling, caregiver support, and transportation. Ask which service fits the need and whether an assessment or reservation is required. Its equipment-loan program is another inquiry route when an assistive item is needed.
Great Falls Housing Authority
Great Falls Housing Authority operates public housing, Section Eight, and affordable housing properties in Great Falls. Its public-housing and Section Eight programs assist income-eligible residents. Ask about current list openings, program differences, and accessible-unit needs. Older announcements on the homepage should not be used to infer current office hours or application availability.
Great Falls Transit Paratransit
Great Falls Transit Paratransit provides transportation for eligible people unable to use fixed-route service and within its service area. An application section must be completed by a medical provider, and the agency asks for original signatures. After approval, registration and a paratransit ID come before scheduling. Confirm the return-trip arrangements when requesting the outbound ride.
Before You Contact a Program
- For county aging services, describe the need and the person’s age.
- Ask housing staff about the exact list and follow-up procedure.
- Review the transit application for signatures and service-area limits.
Federal Benefits and Next Steps
Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.
