For a Shreveport resource search, separate aging-support questions from housing applications and transportation certification. The following local organizations provide different services and have their own intake procedures. Keep a simple record of which agency received each request.

Caddo Aging and Resource Referrals

Caddo Council on Aging lists an Aging and Disability Resource Center, information and referral, meals, and supportive services. Start by describing the specific need and asking about the program’s age and residence rules. Its information-request form is a way to begin a conversation; it is not proof of enrollment or immediate service.

Shreveport Housing Application Tools

Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport separates open-list applications, waiting-list status, and the applicant portal. The portal can be used to update contact information and exchange documents. Check the list relevant to the housing program you want; an existing account or a leasing notice for one development does not establish availability across all programs.

SporTran OnDemand Paratransit

SporTran OnDemand Paratransit is the service formerly called LiftLine. Eligibility concerns disability-related barriers to using the regular bus system, and the application includes a doctor’s statement. Ask for current application and reservation instructions. The page retains older fare promotions, so confirm today’s fare and service details directly before relying on them.

Before You Contact a Program

  • Identify whether the request is for information, an application, or an existing case.
  • For transportation, list origin, destination, mobility needs, and return-trip needs.
  • Keep a copy of submissions and follow up through the stated program channel.

Federal Benefits and Next Steps

Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.

For the federal process, read our Disability Application Guide and Document Preparation Checklist.
