The Third Stimulus Payment: The 2021 Rollout and Today’s Records

What the Third Round Was
The third Economic Impact Payment was issued under the American Rescue Plan. IRS guidance describes payments of up to $1,400 per eligible person, including qualifying dependents, subject to the program’s requirements and income limits.
Payments were distributed in batches during 2021. The original headline said checks were “on the way” and directed readers to Get My Payment. Those instructions described the rollout at the time; they are not current payment-tracking guidance.
The Online Status Tool Has Closed
The IRS now states that all three rounds have been issued and that Get My Payment can no longer be used to check status. Historical payment amounts can instead be reviewed through IRS account records and retained notices.
A Past Credit Is Not an Open Offer
The IRS’s later Recovery Rebate Credit announcement identified April 15, 2025 as the deadline for non-filers to file a 2021 return and claim that credit. That date has passed. This page does not announce a new stimulus round or determine the handling of a previously filed claim.
