2021 Stimulus Payments for SSDI and SSI: Delivery and Records

What the 2021 Delivery Update Covered
The third Economic Impact Payment was pandemic relief administered by the IRS. It was separate from monthly SSDI and SSI benefits. The IRS’s April 7, 2021 update described a batch that included Social Security and other federal beneficiaries, with payments sent through different delivery methods.
The original article said readers should already have received $1,400. That was too broad: a payment’s eligibility, amount and delivery depended on the individual. A reported batch date did not prove that every recipient had received money.
Checking Historical Information
The IRS now states that the first, second and third Economic Impact Payments have been issued. Its Get My Payment status application is no longer available. The IRS points people to their online account and payment notices for historical amounts.
Keep the tax year, amount and notice together if you need to discuss an old record. A problem with a past stimulus payment is different from a missing current Social Security payment; contact the agency responsible for the payment in question.
