Fargo residents can use Cass Human Service Zone, Fargo Housing, and MAT Paratransit for different practical needs. The transit system crosses the state line, but that does not make North Dakota benefit or housing applications interchangeable with Minnesota programs.

Cass County Benefit Contact

Cass Human Service Zone is the county entry point listed by North Dakota HHS. Its page directs Medicaid, food, heating, and other economic-assistance requests to Apply for Help or the Customer Support Center. Use that route for case questions or changes and contact the local zone when you need county-level help or referral guidance.

Fargo Housing Applications

Fargo Housing Application Guide accepts online applications when the relevant waiting lists are open. Its RentCafe process requires current contact and household information; changes must be made through the portal rather than by telephone. Ask for assistance or an accommodation if needed, and respond to notices asking whether you want to remain on a list.

MAT Paratransit Eligibility

MAT Paratransit Application Guide focuses on functional ability to use fixed-route transit, not a diagnosis alone. The process includes an application, authorization, and professional verification. Eligibility may be conditional or temporary. Read the determination letter carefully and confirm how any conditions apply to the trips you want to take.

Before You Contact a Program

  • State that your benefit request is for Cass County, North Dakota.
  • Keep your housing portal contact information current.
  • Describe actual transit barriers, including conditions that vary by trip or season.

Federal Benefits and Next Steps

Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.

For the federal process, read our Disability Application Guide and Document Preparation Checklist.
