West Valley City directs affordable-housing inquiries to Housing Connect. County aging services and regional UTA transportation are separate resources. Start with the current agency named by the city instead of relying on an old West Valley City Housing Authority contact.

Current Housing Assistance Contact

West Valley City Affordable Housing Guide states that Housing Connect manages the city’s affordable-housing services, including services formerly handled by the city housing authority. Follow that referral for application questions and check current program and waiting-list information. A city description of housing options does not mean a unit or voucher is immediately available.

Salt Lake County Support Services

Salt Lake County Aging and Adult Services Guide provides a local directory for older adults and caregivers, including meals, home and community care, and wellness transportation. Ask which program serves your address and circumstances. Confirm any assessment, intake, or participation requirements before planning around the service.

Accessible Regional Travel

UTA Paratransit Guide describes UTA’s separate paratransit eligibility process and mobility evaluation. Explain what prevents use of fixed-route transit and when the barrier occurs. Confirm coverage for the intended journey and discuss any beyond-the-curb assistance before arranging a ride.

Before You Contact a Program

  • Use Housing Connect for the housing services identified by the city.
  • Describe the older adult’s support needs and residence when contacting county staff.
  • For transit, prepare both addresses and examples of travel limitations.

Federal Benefits and Next Steps

Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.

For the federal process, read our Disability Application Guide and Document Preparation Checklist.
