Provo, Utah: Disability Resources
On This Page
Provo’s housing authority and senior programs serve different local needs, while UTA provides regional transit information. The city’s senior program is age-specific. Do not assume that a disability alone meets that age requirement or automatically establishes eligibility for paratransit.
Provo Housing Assistance
Provo City Housing Authority administers public housing and Housing Choice Vouchers in Provo. Its website separates applicant and resident portals and carries notices about changes to its housing portfolio. Use the applicant route for a new request, and ask which programs or properties are accepting applications rather than treating a portal link as an offer of housing.
City Senior Programs
Provo Senior Programs Guide lists activities and wellness programs for adults age 60 and older. Senior lunches at the recreation center are provided through Mountainland Association of Governments and require advance reservations. Check participation requirements, registration, and any current charge before attending; the senior program is distinct from personal-care services.
UTA Paratransit Applications
UTA Paratransit Guide explains eligibility based on the ability to use regular transit. Applicants undergo a mobility evaluation, and service may be conditional or temporary. Ask UTA to confirm trip coverage and the evaluation process; an SSA benefit award does not replace that process.
Before You Contact a Program
- Distinguish a new housing application from an existing resident issue.
- Check the senior activity’s age requirement and reserve meals in advance.
- Describe travel barriers to UTA and verify the pickup and destination coverage.
Federal Benefits and Next Steps
Apply for SSDI[1] or SSI[2] through the Social Security Administration. Local resource programs have separate applications and do not decide federal disability benefits.
For the federal process, read our Disability Application Guide and Document Preparation Checklist.
