Cincinnati’s local starting points include Council on Aging, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, and Metro Access. Use the resource that matches the need—care guidance, housing, or transportation—and confirm its geographic and eligibility limits.

Council on Aging Resource Center

The Aging and Disability Resource Center answers questions about care, disability resources, housing options, and transportation. Its information service is free, and the regional aging agency covers Hamilton, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, and Warren counties. Staff can explain options and referrals; receiving information does not establish eligibility for a funded care program.

CMHA Public Housing

CMHA’s public-housing application guide concerns properties in Hamilton County. Applicants select appropriate properties and submit a preliminary application for a bedroom-size waiting list. A later notice requests the full application and eligibility review. Keep contact information current and monitor email or mail. This process concerns public housing; ask separately about voucher programs and their availability.

Metro Access Paratransit

Metro Access serves qualifying riders within three-fourths of a mile of regular, non-express Metro routes during corresponding service hours. Its current instructions require an application followed by scheduling an in-person skills assessment. Mail and fax applications are no longer accepted. Review the digital or PDF instructions, bring the required photo identification and mobility aid, and ask about assessment transportation.

Before You Contact a Program

  • Tell Council on Aging your county and the kind of support you need.
  • Keep the housing preliminary application and later eligibility notice together.
  • Check Metro’s current submission instructions and arrange the assessment.

Keep Federal Benefits Separate

These local referrals and applications do not submit an SSDI or SSI claim. SSA’s Disability page[1] explains SSDI; SSA’s SSI overview[2] explains SSI. Apply for federal benefits through SSA. Starting a local service application does not file an SSDI or SSI claim.
