Here We Go Again: Another NOSSCR Lawsuit Hits the Spotlight

Washington, D.C. – March 4, 2025, 05:45 AM PST – It seems the drama never ends for the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR). Just months after facing legal scrutiny, the advocacy group is back in hot water with a fresh lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia (Case No. 2025-CAB-001260). This time, Professional Employee Services, LLC, doing business as Insurance Branch, and its principal, Brendon Cassity, are taking NOSSCR to task over allegations of breach of contract, defamation, and shady financial dealings.

The trouble kicked off with a “Premier Exhibitor Agreement” signed on March 13, 2024. Insurance Branch shelled out $48,999 to exhibit at NOSSCR events through June 2025, only for NOSSCR to pull the plug on September 19, 2024, with no further events and no refund. The plaintiffs say they’re left high and dry, missing out on the deal they signed up for. But that’s not all—NOSSCR’s leadership, including CEO David Camp, allegedly smeared Insurance Branch and Cassity, falsely claiming a Department of Justice probe and likening Cassity to notorious fraudster Eric Conn. Ouch.

The plot thickens with over $300,000 in donations and payments funneled to NOSSCR and its Foundation, directed by Camp. The plaintiffs allege this money bounced through multiple bank accounts, including one tied to an entity called Essex Strategies, raising red flags about where it really went. After requesting an audit in a October 24, 2024, letter, NOSSCR’s silence has only fueled suspicion.

Insurance Branch and Cassity are fighting back, seeking at least $48,999 for the contract breach, plus damages for reputational hits, and demanding a full financial reckoning of NOSSCR’s books. With a jury trial on the table, this case is shaping up to be a slugfest.

NOSSCR hasn’t commented yet, but this latest legal headache adds to their growing list of challenges. The Social Security Disability community is buzzing—will this tarnish NOSSCR’s standing even more? Stay tuned as this saga unfolds.
